As your counselor, I am determined to make your experience in therapy one you want to tell your friends about because it has transformed your life. I am committed to your growth as much as you are, and will continue to encourage you to be a better version of yourself, with God’s help. I am confident that an authentic relationship between client and therapist can cultivate the change you’re seeking that no medication, routine, or coping skill will accomplish. With authenticity, integrity, and empathy, I will point you toward the lasting hope that can be found in Christ.

About

I don’t want therapy to just be a place to vent, but a place of growth. My aim is for you to feel known, seen, and loved. I want you to feel secure in who you are now but excited about who you can be. I offer counseling for teens, adult individuals, couples, and families facing a range of issues and concerns. If you’re dealing with relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, chemical dependency, or other challenges, I would be honored to work with you to witness the Lord’s work in your life as you grow in Him.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal as a counselor is for our time together to help you determine a new outlook on your life. My aim is for you to find hope, love, freedom, clarity, healing, and everything in between. I want you to experience a sense of safety and security you haven’t experienced before so you know it is possible – for yourself and with others. My ultimate desire is for the lost to know they have a home and the broken to know they can be healed.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I will begin each session by outlining our expectations for the session so you are aware of what we are going to be “getting into.” In this way, nothing will come as a surprise to you and you can know you are safe in this environment to be authentic. My aim is to provide an atmosphere that feels comfortable but also challenging at times so you are aware you are growing and changing.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

The skills and the interventions of a therapist without a Christian approach to therapy will only go so far. Inviting God into the healing process allows for a deeper understanding of healing and freedom than most therapists can provide without God. My hope is that when someone encounters me, they will also encounter the light of Christ in me, therefore offering them the opportunity for faith, hope, and love. These God-given characteristics provide an atmosphere where healing can be cultivated.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Science in Couples, Marriage, and Family Therapy, both from Texas Tech University.

My Call to Christian Counseling

I always knew I wanted to be a counselor. From a young age, I was the friend who would provide support or advice on things I had never walked through myself. I had an innate ability to help others through challenges, but not only that – I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed being the “helper” and found purpose in it.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

My personal interests and hobbies include leading youth ministry at my church, learning new things or skills, adventuring with friends, working out, and reading.

Relationship Issues

Our lives are determined by the quality of our relationships. When our relationships are a constant source of our pain, it can feel like the quality of our life isn’t at its fullest. Communication is a huge component of how we cultivate safety in relationships. I aim to create an environment in therapy where you feel safe to communicate your feelings, expectations, and needs so you can practice these tools in your own relationships as well.

Trauma

Trauma can feel like a big, scary thing to tackle, but really it’s all about acknowledging how your trauma has impacted your life and healing from the places it has caused pain. I aim to provide an environment in which my clients can acknowledge and heal the pain from their trauma. There are so many different techniques and skills that go into healing these parts of your life. As your therapist, I hope you gain the skills needed to heal while giving yourself some grace, realizing the recovery process likely won’t happen overnight.

Anxiety

I believe everyone struggles with anxious thoughts and behaviors. However, how we interact with our anxiety will determine whether or not it affects our life negatively or positively. As your therapist, I will provide skills and tools to help you regulate emotions and identify and understand core thoughts and beliefs that may contribute to your anxiety. I want you to be able to process through your anxiety so you can use it as a strength and not a limitation to your life.

Personal Development

I believe growth is a huge part of life and we can either resist it or embrace it. As your therapist, I want you to grow and develop into the person God calls you to be. My hope is for therapy to be a place you know you can grow without judgment and in full transparency. You will be challenged and it might hurt before it helps, but it is where you know you will become the best version of yourself for your family, friends, career, etc.

Chemical Dependency (Substance Use Issues)

Dependency on anything is saying this “thing” has more power over me than I have over it. My role as your therapist would be to gain your power back through releasing the control that substances or other specific things have on your life. My goal for you would be to learn to depend on God and your power in Him to overcome the temptation to use these substances as a form of healing or distraction from healing. You can’t heal what is hidden behind the use of things or substances. Let’s pursue healing so dependency is no longer an issue in your life.
