About

Past clients have described me as flexible, adaptable, trustworthy, and respectful. I genuinely care for my clients and seek to make them feel as comfortable and safe as possible throughout the counseling process. My past clinical experience and training have included opportunities to work with a variety of demographics and populations including children, teenagers, and victims of domestic violence. No matter what you are going through, hope is available in Christ. With His help and with the help of proven therapeutic techniques, it’s possible to experience healing and growth.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal as your counselor is for you to see your full potential and self-worth. My hope is that through our work together, you will come to understand that whatever led you to pursue treatment does not define you nor dictate your future.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

After establishing confidentiality and general expectations, I like to begin with open-ended questions to learn your story, discover the reasons you decided to pursue therapy, and determine your goals and desires for treatment. We will then work together to establish a treatment plan catered to your unique circumstances and desired outcomes. Depending on each client’s needs and preferences, some sessions could include a hands-on approach through visuals, art therapy, journaling, or drawing.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

I believe that any life change is hard. While there are many effective interventions and healthy coping skills, available, being able to incorporate a Christian approach to treatment makes room for profound healing tools from God. For example, securing identity, repentance, breaking family sin patterns, forgiving others, healing wounds, overcoming fears, and deliverance can only be effectively achieved by incorporating God’s Word to these principles to lead to lasting transformation and freedom for a healthy soul.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from University of Mount St. Mary’s College and my Master’s degree from the University of Southern California.

My Call to Christian Counseling

My decision to pursue a career in Christian counseling was driven by my desire to give back to the community. I count it a great privilege to be able to help others understand that their past and their trauma do not define them as they learn to walk in boldness, confident of their identity in Christ.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

In the past year, I’ve enjoyed leading table discussions at my church’s weekly women’s group. I also really enjoy mission trips because they allow me to meet people locally and globally to bring hope through several initiatives and share the Word of God.

Anxiety

What are your fears? Sometimes we don’t realize that we have grown up with separation anxiety and/or other fears. Those feelings tend to become normal feelings. But if we do not name what lurks in the dark shadows of our souls, it will master us, resulting in anxiety and depression. When anxiety is not addressed and controlled, it can lead to depression. Sometimes we rely on ourselves, our gifts, and our ingenuity rather than relying on God and His deliverance. Through Christian counseling for anxiety, you can learn to overcome your fears and experience peace with God’s help.

Trauma

Facing an upsetting and confusing event can be traumatic. There is direct and indirect trauma, including events such as accidents, sexual assault, or natural disasters. Feelings of shock and denial are prevalent under these circumstances, along with other symptoms such as headaches and nausea.

Trauma is complex. Together in session we can process it by naming the type of trauma, learning coping skills, processing through trauma with narrative work, and inviting God to be part of the healing process. He wants to make us whole. Jesus took up our pain on the cross, including our physical pain, emotional pain, and spiritual pain. God is good and can redeem even the most horrible, evil things that happen in our lives. Take the first step toward healing today by reaching out for trauma therapy.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Several risk factors and stressful experiences, including the amount and severity of trauma you’ve gone through in your life, can result in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Symptoms of PTSD can include intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes in thinking and mood, or changes in physical and emotional reactions. While there is a lot to assess and process with PTSD, one of key factors to address is the mind. In our sessions together we will work together not only to address the root of your symptoms but also the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).

Grief and Loss

You many grieve the loss of a friend, parent, spouse, marriage, job, financial stability, dream or goal, fertility, or your youth. There are stages of grief that include emotional and physical symptoms as well as complicated grief such as absent grief, ambiguous loss, and disenfranchised grief. As you tell me your story, we will work together to navigate your grief while depending on God to heal your soul.

Codependency

There are at least 18 attributes of a codependent relationship. Perhaps you feel caught in a trap of constantly trying to please everyone, and yet still feel guilty at the end of the day. If you feel as if you and your loved one are in a never-ending battle for control and have no idea who is winning or losing, you may be dealing with codependent issues.

Codependents rely on alcohol or drugs, money, work, food, or sex to make them happy – or they love someone who does. God, through the Holy Spirit, can help you step back and examine your life. Through our sessions together we can work to effectively deal with issues at your own pace. This will be done in a safe environment to help break the cycle and help you become free to make new choices in your life according to God’s will.
